The state of Massachusetts and four Western Mass cities are entitled to Homelessness Prevention and Rapid ReHousing Funds.  In order to receive funds, grantees must submit plans to HUD indicating how they intend to use the funds, and HUD must approve the plan.  Funding is not expected to go to subgrantees until September 2009.

Draft plans are currently available for public comment:

  • Chicopee (comment period ends May 12)
  • Holyoke (comment period ends May 8 )
  • Pittsfield (comment period ends May 13)
  • Springfield (comment period ends May 14; public hearing May 11, 4 pm at Springfield Office of Housing)

The plans provide instructions for how to provide comments.  The comment period for the draft Massachusetts plan ended April 27.
