The UMass Donahue Institute, in partnership with Way Finders, recently released its new study of housing in western MA: Building Homes. Building Futures.

The report captures the exorbitant rent increases in the region—35% between 2021 and 2024 and 40% in Hampden County (click here to see our recent post regarding Rent Control)—and the affordable housing gap today of over 20,000 units.

Read key summary findings here and check out Way Finders’ Housing Data Explorer tool here.

The report will be formally launched on October 1—with more ways to turn this powerful data into action!
