On Monday, May 12, western Massachusetts showed up at a legislative hearing of the Joint Committee on Elder Affairs to call out the alarming increase in older adult homelessness and to urge passage of bill S.475 to help stop it.

Big thanks to Northampton Chief of Staff Alan Wolf and Easthampton Community Social Worker Liz Plouffe for sharing a panel with the Network. Together, we made our message and our impact stronger. For the testimony, see NorthamptonEasthampton and the Network.

S.475 would create a bridge subsidy program that would allow seniors facing the threat of eviction to receive a subsidy to stay in their home until they become eligible for permanently affordable housing. We will keep working with our partners to push this bill forward!
