The U.S. Department of Labor announced last Friday its plans to close all Job Corps across the country, including the one right here in western Massachusetts.
A protest took place on June 2, at 2:30 pm at Westover Job Corps offices, 103 Johnson Road, Chicopee.
Job Corps offers wrap-around services, including housing, employment and other support. This devastating closure threatens stable housing for dozens of young adults in western MA alone.
As U.S. Senator Markey remarked: “By suspending Job Corps Center operations in Massachusetts and across the country, the Trump administration is slamming the gate shut on young people striving for a better future – all to pay for tax cuts for billionaires.”
