The Springfield Continuum of Care met today and discussed the concept of “trauma-informed services.” The Continuum has committed to putting on a training about this important topic within the next several months. Once the training event is planned, it will be posted on the blog, and all regional providers will be welcome to attend. The CoC’s Discharge Planning Subcommittee also met. The subcommittee decided to meet with representatives from Springfield hospitals, crisis units and the jail to talk about use of existing and new resources targeted toward chronically homeless individuals, with the goal of creating common strategies for connecting particular homeless people to appropriate resources. The subcommittee will work in conjunction with Dave Modzelewski’s workgroup on chronically homeless individuals to plan the meeting.
