HUD has published notice that the COC registration process will take place between July 21 and August 31, and indicating that the CoC NOFA will be published in the Federal Register no later earlier than August 15, 2009.
The notice provides some overview of this year’s process and some clues about the NOFA. One process change this year is that HUD will quickly review renewal projects, and then will move on to full scoring of the application in order to make determinations on new projects. I’m sure the hope is to speed up the time frame for renewal grants.
The Samaritan Bonus has been renamed the Permanent Housing Bonus, and bonus funds may be used for permanent housing for homeless disabled individuals and families, as well as for chronically homeless individuals. See the notice for additional changes.
