SPRINGFIELD, MA (2009-03-13) Patrick Administration officials say changes made in regulations that govern state-run emergency homeless shelters for Massachusetts’ families are needed, in order to close a multi-million dollar budget gap in the program. But the proposal comes as the number of families in shelters has shot upwards. More than 2600 families live in shelters today, that’s up from 1100 in 2005.
