Colloquia Series:  “Care of the American Veteran:  Homelessness”

Target Audience: Nursing students, Registered Nurses, Educators, Social Workers,

Psychologists and Physicians interested in the care of American Veterans

Purpose: To provide a forum for clinical and academic partners and guests to share insights about the care of veteran patients and generate ideas for advancing nursing and interdisciplinary practice, education and research for America’s heroes, their families and caregivers.

Objectives:

  1. Recognize the scope of homelessness among veterans and the VHA’s plan to end homelessness through the resources of government, business and the private sector.
  2. Describe the nursing care of homeless veterans in the primary care setting.
  3. Identify the challenges and opportunities for veterans entering or returning to college or university.
  4. Discuss opportunities within the NERVANA partnership for nursing practice, education and research related to the homeless veterans and veterans in academia.
