Research Assistant for the Western Massachusetts Network to End Homelessness

Research Assistant Tasks:
Research assistant needed to assist with data collection and analysis, report generation, and database management (including data entry & coordination and recoding of data), internet searches related to issues homelessness.

Main tasks will include inputting data on services provided at housing court related to tenancy preservation and homelessness diversion efforts, compiling data into report form, recoding of variables, and basic internet research.

Required Skills:
Computer proficiency, internet savvy, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail are required. Basic knowledge of MS Excel, including facility and comfort with basic mathematical formulas in Excel.

Desired Skills:
Experience making Charts in Excel.  Experience with statistical software or a desire to learn.  Ability to work independently & take initiative.

Skills Acquired:
General research skills including literature reviews, and creating fact sheets
Quantitative data skills: Data collection, analysis, interpretation, & database skills including the use of MS ACCESS and SPSS 12 to obtain summary statistics & perform simple hypotheses testing. Knowledge and understanding of Housing First initiatives for homeless families and chronically homeless individuals in Western Massachusetts.

Hours:
Minimum of 8 hours up to 15 hours per week.
