This Thursday evening, December 23rd Chaconia Restaurant will open its doors at 6:30 p.m. for an all-you-can-eat Caribbean flavored, buffet dinner. The proceeds from Thursday evening will help fund a free Christmas Eve dinner at the restaurant for people who are homeless. Anyone who would like to support Chaconia’s efforts is asked to make reservations for Thursday night’s dinner by calling 733-1839. Tickets are $18. per person. What a great way to take a break from hectic holiday preparations, enjoy great food, support a local business and your neighbors in need!

Chaconia Restaurant is a long way from its native Trinidad, but like its owners this city is lucky to have the business call Springfield home. Open just a few months in the old Café Manhattan location at 301 Bridge Street in downtown Springfield, Chaconia is already demonstrating its good citizenship. Even as the new business struggles to build its following, the spirit of the season moved Winnie Martin and her family to reach out to those in need. Shelter guests from Friends of the Homeless, Inc. will be invited to a sit-down meal, on a night when most people in the community are gathering with family and friends. FOH, the largest emergency shelter in Western Massachusetts is just a few blocks away and appreciates Chaconia’s neighborly gesture. For this special celebration, FOH will shuttle its clients to the restaurant. Volunteers from the faith community, led by Pastor Gregory Dyson of Church in the Acres will help staff, support and serve the dinner making the holiday season a little brighter for everyone!

Your support is appreciated, as always!
