Free training, Rhode Island Convention Center, Providence, RI, June 29-30. (People can come for one or both days; it’s pretty relaxed.)
The training event is sponsored by SAMHSA and some affiliate programs (the Homelessness Resource Center, PATH program, Services in Supportive Housing, SOAR)
“The purpose of this training is to advance best practices and innovative strategies in homeless services. Based on person-centered, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented approaches to care, topics will focus on housing, employment, critical time intervention, consumer integration, motivational interviewing, medical care for non-medical providers, population-focused approaches, communities of practice, self-care, and more. There is also a pre-conference institute on supporting housing retention.”
The training is “for anyone working in homeless services in contexts including street outreach, drop-in centers, shelters, permanent supportive housing, criminal justice re-entry, mental health, addictions, health care, supported employment, faith-based initiatives, and schools. We welcome direct service providers, consumers, support staff, administrators, government staff, and policy makers from throughout the Northeastern United States. We extend a special invitation to PATH and SSH grantees.”
