Please join this meeting offered by MA Housing and Shelter Alliance (MHSA) so we can learn together and support our own regional dialogue around best use of ESG funds.

Read below for the announcement from MHSA:

Join MHSA members on July 9 to strategize about ways to respond to the DHCD NOFA (Emergency Solutions Grant COVID-19 Round 2) calling for 500 additional shelter beds. This is an opportunity to transform the homeless shelter system and create non-congregate shelter (NCS) coupled with rapid re-housing and/or options to eventually convert NCS to permanent supportive housing.

The discussion will include a representative from CSH to discuss best practices from other parts of the country and John Yazwinski of Father Bill’s & MainSpring to discuss efforts on the South Shore to use hotels.

·        Hear about models elsewhere in the country to create NCS using FEMA, ESG and other CARES Act resources

·        Learn about efforts within Massachusetts to master lease hotels and eventually convert them to housing

·        Review the resources:

o   ESG to master lease hotels, multi-bedroom shared apartments, dorms, and comparable facilities (maybe even places that will start by using FEMA and then switch over to ESG to pay for motels)

o   ESG for rapid rehousing

o   Options for eventual purchase and conversion to PSH

o   MassHealth CSP for services

·        Strategize about what MHSA members are considering across the state

We hope you can join us for this important discussion.
