HUD recently issued a new Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for Continuums of Care (CoCs) across the country, including our two CoCs in western Massachusetts.

The National Alliance to End Homelessness provided this summary and action update below:

The [NOFO} changes threaten to put more than 97,000 formerly homeless people, including families with children, those with disabilities, older adults, and veterans at risk of losing their permanent housing

As a result, the National Alliance once again joined a coalition of co-plaintiffs to file suit against HUD. To learn more, see Democracy Forward’s press release here.  Their opening paragraph offers a succinct summary:

“A broad coalition of local governments and nonprofit organizations have challenged the Trump-Vance administration’s latest attempt to disrupt federal funding for people trying to exit homelessness. Although the court had previously halted unlawful restrictions on federal homelessness funding, the administration is once again making changes that will kick people out of permanent housing and back onto the streets.”

While the litigation unfolds, CoCs will continue the work of responding to this current application. Stay tuned for more information from our two CoC’s early next week.
