Governor Healey signed the FY2027 budget this week, approving the version the Legislature sent to her desk without any vetoes.
The final budget, as described in an earlier post, includes:
- the Massachusetts Rental Voucher Program increased by $25 million (but this pays only for increased costs and already allocated project based vouchers, i.e., no new vouchers)
- Access to Counsel increased by $500,000, as did permanent supportive housing.
- Housing Consumer Education Centers (HCECS), the front door for RAFT (eviction prevention) and more, suffered a significant cut.
- The newly proposed emergency winter shelter line-item was not funded at all.
