The final “21st Century ROAD to Housing Act” contains key provisions that will affect low-income renters and homeowners, such as:
- “Reforming Disaster Recovery Act” (RDRA) – Authorizes HUD’s Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) program for three years, which provides flexible grants to help presidentially declared disaster areas rebuild affordable housing and infrastructure, support mitigation and resilience activities, and implement reforms for a more efficient and equitable recovery system.
- “Rural Housing Service Reform Act” – Preserves affordable rental and homeownership opportunities for low-income individuals and families in rural areas, reduces administrative barriers, and encourages public-private partnerships to increase investment in rural housing.
- “Choice in Affordable Housing Act” – Streamlines inspections for the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program, making it faster and easier for recipients to access housing in their preferred communities.
