Earlier this week, the City of Boston joined a lawsuit challenging the Trump Administration’s new requirements for Continuums of Care (CoCs) – the funding vehicle for federal homelessness and housing programs –  to comply with certain Executive Orders deemed to be unconstitutional by the plaintiffs.  See the City of Boston’s press release here.

On May 8, a federal District Court judge issued a temporary restraining order blocking the Trump Administration from withholding funding or enforcing conditions for 14 days while longer term relief is sought.

Statewide, Massachusetts CoCs are the recipients of $136 million in HUD CoC funding. This funding pays rent for over 3,800 supportive housing units statewide for tenants who are disabled and previously chronically homeless, as well as for other housing and services.  In western Massachusetts, the Hampden and Three County CoCs distribute roughly $13 million in housing and  homelessness resources across the region.

We are grateful to the City of Boston for joining this fight!
