Yesterday, Article 87, proposed by the Patrick Murray administration as part of a broad overhaul of the state’s response to homelesness, passed unanimously in the House of Representatives and Senate.

The approval of Article 87 will move homeless individual and family emergency shelter programs from the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) to the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD).  The change will go into effect July 1, 2009.
